It is also valid to convey the reward to the living persons. All of them will receive the same reward without any deduction the one who has carried this out will also receive the same reward without any loss. If one wants to convey the reward of one’s recital of Holy Quran, charity, Nafl Salaat (Non Obligatory), fasts and good deeds, Hajj, Umrah etc., then one should convey it to the virtuous soul of our beloved Holy Prophet, one’s relatives, and all the Muslim men and women. It is the consensus of the Sahaba (may Allah be well pleased with them), the earlier Ulema, and the latter ones that the above is (a) Effective and that (b) it is certainly permissible, in fact meritorious, to do so. The question that some people ask is that if a person is dead, can we increase its status or decrease its torment by conveying rewards of OUR deeds ? ![]() There are too many proofs from the Holy Quran and Hadeeth (Holy Prophet’s traditions) regarding the above, and warrant an extensive article on the same. ![]() It is just the end of the worldly existence as we witness it, and the beginning of a new existence, in which the soul experiences a new world called “ Barzakh.” The soul may experience this new life with or without its original body, according to its own rank allotted to it by Allah the Almighty, the Supreme. While both men and women indulge in gossip, it is a special trait of women.At the outset please know, that in Islam, death is not perceived as an end of life. It refers to any talk whether true, false, futile or idle which persons carry about just to create conversation, mischief and shaitaaniyat to soothe the ‘itching’ in their bestial nafs. Gossip is termed nameemah in the Qur’aan and Hadith. Rukayya seeing that the two are no longer together asked Zaheera: “Did you guys have a fight? I hope you did not have a fight?” Zaheera responded: “I’m not gona say anything, and Allah grants barakah in the salary for petrol.” Does this statement fall into the context of back-biting or slandering? Does it mean that Zaheera was creating illfeeling in Rukayya’s heart for Yasmin? Zaheera has the intention of asking maaf (forgiveness) from Yasmin for this statement. They had a discussion regarding the petrol expenses but could not agree. What is the meaning of gossip, slandering and gheebat? Yasmin and Zaheera used to travel together daily to work in one car. This tremendous difference is the result of sincerity and the nonexistence of sincerity, for the sincerity of a non-Sahaabi can never be equal to the sincerity of a Sahaabi. Hence, Rasulullah (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said that one “mudd” of dates given in charity by a single Sahaabi of mine is superior to the charity of gold the size of the mountain of Uhd given by a non-Sahaabi. In the congregational custom, the majority of those who participate do so merely to appease the relatives of the deceased. The recitation of even Qulhuwallaah thrice (which is equivalent to the Sawaab of one Quraan) is superior to reciting the Quraan Shareef ten times in the congregational custom. The congregational way (of lsaale Sawaab offering) is not appropriate. ![]() Yes, it could be said to close friends to recite the Quraan Shareef at their own homes as time affords and bestow upon the mayyit. “The customary method of reciting Quraan Shareef for the lsaale Sawaab of the mayyit in vogue nowadays is not proper. THE most efficacious way of “lsaale Sawaab” (remission of Sawaab) for the mayyit by way of the Quraan Shareef is explained by Hakimul Ummat Hadhrat Maulana Ashraf All Thanvi (R.A.) as follows:
